Important notice on the opening of the legal and consular section of the Embassy Prague

General Information

Under no circumstances is it possible to visit the consular section of the German embassy without making an appointment.

Appointments for passports, notifications and certificates as well as visa can be booked via the Embassy's online appointment System exclusively.

However, please note that,

  • the embassy cannot admit accompanying persons (exceptions are for the guardians of minor applicants, for an accompanying person of elderly applicants who are not able to walk alone and for an accompanying person who acts as an interpreter for applicants who do not speak German, Czech or English sufficiently)
  • only those persons who have made an appointment can be admitted and only one person at a time can make an appointment
  • only applicants who present themselves punctually at the beginning of their appointment will be admitted
  • only applicants who have all the supporting documents (in particular completed applications) with them will be admitted.

Passports/ identity Cards/ eID

It is possible to book appointments for the application of passports, identity cards and an eID for Union citizens via the online appointment system.

Please understand that the Embassy is not able to offer any special appointment for applying for a German passport identity card or eID in addition to the dates offered via the online appointment system. Requests for special pass appointment received here will not be answered.

New appointments are activated one week in advance on each working day.

In principle, separate appointments must be booked for each applicant and for each official act. Only for the simultaneous application for a passport and identity card for the same applicant is the booking of a single appointment sufficient.

If you would like to make an appointment for a family with minor children of three or more and are unable to book consecutive appointments, please contact the Consular Section by e-mail. In your e-mail you should include the surname, first name and date of birth of all applicants and a telephone number. The Consular Section will then allocate you the next available concurrent appointments. Please note that this is a special appointment and must be attended. Alternative appointments will not be offered.

Only applicants who
